PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chip antiscattering device capable of favorably preventing scattering of chips produced in cutting a work piece regardless of material of the work piece. SOLUTION: This chip antiscattering device 10 is furnished with a mounting member 16 mounted rotatably on a shaft part main body 14 of a counter boring tool 12 and a cover member 18 mounted on this mounting member 16 free to slide in the rotating axial direction of the counter boring tool 12, always elastically energized forward and to surround a working area in cutting the work piece. The cover member 18 stores a cutting part 50 of the counter boring tool 12 in its storing area 48, and a knife edge of the counter boring tool 12 is positioned in the rear of a front end surface 42 of the cover member 18. The cover member 18 collects the chips in the storig area 48 of the cover member 18 by always surrounding the working area by sliding backward in cutting the work piece.
