PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL device simplified in a structure for airtightly sealing it, and formable by applying nearly uniform pressure thereto as a whole. SOLUTION: A first film-like base material 1 is composed by forming a gas barrier transparent layer 12 on one surface of an insulating transparent resin film 11; the insulating transparent resin film 11 abuts on a transparent positive electrode layer 91 of an organic EL element 9; a second film-like base material 2 is composed by forming a gas barrier layer 22 on one surface of an insulating resin film 21; the insulating resin film 21 abuts on a negative electrode layer 95 of the organic EL element 9; the insulating transparent resin film 11 is stuck to the insulating resin film 21 around the organic EL element 9; and end surfaces of them are covered with a gas barrier film 3.
