PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To independently and efficiently control the light distribution of all light sources of right and left headlights so as to irradiate a target article. SOLUTION: The lighting system for the vehicle comprises the plurality of headlights dividing a light distribution area into plural parts and capable of changing light distribution every divided area, a camera picking up a vehicle front side, and a memory means such as a ROM making the divided area of the headlight on a right side corresponding to each divided area of the headlight on a left side associate in advance, and storing that as a lighted area corresponding relation table 40. On the basis of a picked-up result of the camera, the divided area of the headlight on the left side corresponding to a pedestrian and an opposite vehicle is specified. The divided area of the headlight on the specified left side opposite to a pedestrian or an opposite vehicle is specified on the basis of the picked-up result of the camera. The divided area of a front headlight on a right side which corresponds to a dividing means of the headlight on the specified headlight on the left side is read out from the memory means and specified, thereby controlling light distribution of the headlight corresponding to a specified result.
