Brazing foil comprises a metal foil (7) containing a solder (6) and with a layer of adhesive (8) on one or both sides. Independent claims are included for: (A) a component of an assembly comprising a component with a pre-brazed surface which is to be joined to another component and has a brazing foil as described stuck to it via the adhesive layer; (B) a method for making the brazing foil by fusing particles of solder, casting them on to a cool surface to form a band and coating this on one side with an adhesive; (C) a method for coating a surface to be joined to another component by applying the brazing foil to it; and (D) a method for joining components by positioning the foil between them and heating it to 400 -1250[deg] C.
