The actuating drive has a brake based on friction, and a housing (2) in which an actuator and a gear are arranged. The brake operates only during a downtime of the actuator between the housing and a drive side (1) of the actuating drive. The brake has two opposite brake shoes (5). Each brake shoe is mounted in an assigned arm (8), which is rotatably supported in the drive side. A compression spring is arranged between the brake shoes such that the spring presses the shoes. Each brake shoe has a support (6), in which a rectangular opening (7) is mounted.
