The tape measure has a measuring tape (2) that carries a plain scale (6) and is provided in a housing (1) with a window for winding/ unwinding the tape. A wall of the housing opposite to the window is provided with a flat region that is perpendicular to a direction of unwinding of the tape. The measuring tape has additional scale (7) for identifying a distance from an end of the tape up to a rear wall of the housing. A push bar is arranged on the housing with a potential of transversing parallel to the tape in an opposite direction to a transverse direction of the tape.
