Process for protecting the color of the keratinous fibers colored artificially from the effects of washing and atmospheric agents, comprises applying a first composition comprising a protecting agent against the effect of the atmospheric agent, preferably light, in a medium, and a second composition comprising a zinc based compound in a medium, on the keratinous fibers, where the second composition is applied, before or after coloring of the keratinous fibers, and the first composition is applied after coloring of the keratinous fibers. (1) a process of coloring of human keratinous fibers, preferably hair, comprising applying on the fibers, a direct coloring third composition or oxidation dyeing composition in the presence of oxidizing agent during a sufficient time to develop the color, first composition, the second composition, where the first and the second composition being able to applied before or after the coloring of the keratinous fibers step, and the first composition is applied after the coloring step of the keratinous fibers; and (2) a multi-components coloring agent or kit comprising: a first component containing the direct coloring composition, a second component comprising the first composition, a third component containing the second composition; a first component containing a composition comprising the direct color, a second composition comprising the composition containing the oxidizing agents, a third component comprising the first composition and a fourth component containing the second composition; and a first component comprising the composition containing oxidation base and optionally the coupler and/or direct color, second component containing the composition comprising oxidizing agent, a third component containing the first composition, and a fourth component containing the second composition.
