A flat panel display device and a driving method thereof are provided to discharge charges stored in an image display unit by utilizing an MPS inspection circuit when the system power is turned off. A flat panel display device includes an image display unit(12) and an MPS(Mass Production System) inspection circuit(14). The image display unit includes pixel cells formed at sections which are defined by plural gate and data lines on a display panel. The MPS inspection circuit is formed on the display panel to connect to the respective gate lines, executes an MPS inspection process, and discharges charges in the image display unit when system power is turned off.
