A sidetracked well is produced from a mill assembly 100 which includes; a shaft 120; a lead mill 110 secured to a first end of the shaft, the lead mill including a body (112, Figure 2A) having a plurality of blades (114, Figure 2A) and a plurality of cylindrical cutters inserts or compact cutters (116, Figure 2A) secured to the plurality of blades; and a second mill 130 secured to the shaft a selected distance X from the lead mill, the second mill including a second body (132, figure 3) having a plurality of second blades (134, figure 3) and a plurality of second cylindrical cutters or compact cutters (136, figure 3) secured to the plurality of second blades. A method of designing such a mill bit is disclosed and the cutter may include a protective coating. |
