A digital broadcasting receiver and a processing method thereof are provided to disperse an error and correct the error through RS decoding even when there is a burst error in a fading section as the RS decoding is performed in a direction perpendicular to existing packet data, thereby improving reception performance. A synchronization unit(701) configures a packet associated with the transmission of packet data suitable for the synchronization of a first data table and a second data table. A storage unit(702) outputs the received packet associated with the transmission of the packet data to a RS(Reed-Solomon) decoding unit(703) or receives and outputs a packet associated with the transmission of the packet data of which the error is corrected from the RS decoding unit. The RS decoding unit corrects the error of the received packet associated with the transmission of the packet data and outputs the corrected packet.
