The single-piece lower frame (12) component (22) is a composite with one or more reinforcements in the form of profiled- or dished inlays (38, 40). The component (22) has an injection molded rib structure, which engages the inlay profile. Each side rail (26, 28) includes at least one such inlay, onto which the plastic of the component (22) is injection molded. The inlay is made of metal and the plastic of the component is glass fiber reinforced. The rib structure has an intersecting- or zig-zag form. The plastic of the frame lower component is beaded in form near the inlay side edges, which it overlaps. It forms a overlapping plastic clip at the edge of the inlay. The inlay has holes forming anchor points for the plastic of the frame lower component. The side rail inlays are connected by a metallic traverse (20) extending across the vehicle width. A crash panel is attached to the inlay near a side rail of the lower frame component. This is fastened to the vehicle bodywork at the vehicle B column. The inlay has a plastic coating. A front and/or rear wind cowl of the bodywork is integrated with the lower frame component.
