A socket capable of shielding without restriction on the shape of a connection object is provided to enable a shell to shield the upside and side of a first connection object and be joined to a housing in a state that the upside of the first connection object is pressurized by the bottom wall of the shell, thereby shielding a connection object without restriction on the shape of the connection object. A socket(1) is for connecting with a first connection object(51) and a second connection object(61). A contact(11) has a first connection portion and a second connection portion(15) which is respectively connected to the first connection object and the second connection object. An insulating housing(21) holds the contact. A shell has a shell container(33) for containing the first connection object. An arrangement device connects the shell to the insulating housing. The shell container includes a bottom wall(39) and a side wall(35,37). The bottom wall faces a side of the first connection object, and the side wall covers a side of the first connection object adjacent to a side of the first connection object. The side wall has an engaging portion(35a) which is engaged with the arrangement device. The bottom wall pressures a side of the first connection object for the first connection object to contact the first connection portion pressurizedly.
