<p>The method involves extracting an image`s characteristic elements existing on a printed document e.g. bank note, by using digital image processing, by counting number of pixels whose derived number is greater than a preset transition threshold, and defining transition and non-transition zones forming a cartography and creating zone cartography having a binary value. The elements are compared with a data that is preliminarily stored in a database module in the form of a sample cartography, by comparing the sample cartography and the cartography. An independent claim is also included for a device comprising a microprocessor and configured and programmed for implementing a method for characterizing a printed document.</p> |
