PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device capable of providing emissive light suitably to any type of users. SOLUTION: A retina scanning display device is provided with a diffraction grating which is arranged on the optical path of light from a light source and has optical dispersion performance to disperse the light from the light source toward the emission port which emits the light as emission light to outside. The diffraction grating is arranged dislocatably on the optical path of the light from the light source to the emission port and the optical dispersion performance is varied with respect to the emission port by dislocating the diffraction grating arranged on the optical path.
