PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately set a ratio of storage times of systems to an integral multiple, when scanning a plurality of sets of read rows, while changing signal storage times. SOLUTION: Shutter rows and read rows are scanned by two sets each time, the interval of rows from a shutter row 1 to a read row 1 for a first system is set to four, and the interval of rows from a shutter row 2 to a read row 2 for a second system is set to eight. The shutter rows and the read rows are carried out for each set while matching timings so that the exposure time 1 of the first set is set to 4H periods, an exposure time 2 of the second set is set to 8H periods, and the ratio of storage times of each of the sets is set accurately to an integral multiple (preferably, a power of two).
