A digital data bus system has an event recorder unit (MA) without an inherent data bus address. From among telegrams on the data bus system the event recorder unit selects those telegrams that concern a special sensor and then displays the contents of these telegrams optically in a display unit (AE). This means a sensor's measured value can be simply displayed without relying on its mounting location.
