<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide compositions and methods useful for the production of transgenic plants. <P>SOLUTION: Cassava vein mosaic virus (CsVMV) promoter sequences and expression cassettes containing CsVMV promoter sequences are provided.
