PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide NTC (Negative Temperature Coefficient) composition and an NTC element which can prevent plating solution from eroding an element assembly without forming overcoat on the surface of the element assembly during production of the NTC element. SOLUTION: An NTC element 1 includes an NTC element assembly 2 which includes an element assembly layer 3 and element assembly layers 4A, 4B laminated so as to sandwich the element assembly layer 3. The element assembly 3 is formed of, for example, Mn<SB>2</SB>CoO<SB>4</SB>. The element assembly layers 4A, 4B are formed of Ca(TiMn)O<SB>3</SB>which is produced by adding Ti to CaMnO<SB>3</SB>having perovskite structure. Specifically, preferred Ca(TiMn)O<SB>3</SB>is composition (x:0.3 to 0.7) represented by Ca(Ti<SB>x</SB>Mn<SB>1-x</SB>)O<SB>3</SB>. A terminal electrode 7A is formed on the end face 2a of the NTC element assembly 2, while a terminal electrode 7B is formed on the end face 2b of the NTC element assembly 2.
