PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a pigment additive effective for the dispersion and long period storage of a pigment on the preparation of inks, paints, and the like, and to provide a pigment composition containing the same. SOLUTION: This pigment additive having a 8-amino-quinoline structure. The pigment additive is, for example, a compound obtained by reacting 8-amino-2-methylquinoline with an optionally substituent-having phthalic anhydride and an optionally substituent-having benzoic acid. When the pigment additive is added to a yellow pigment, a green pigment, a red pigment, or the like, coagulation on the dispersion of the pigment is improved to obtain a pigment dispersion having good temporal stability.
