PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for safely producing a silane compound having isocyanate group at a low cost while developing industrial benefit by using inexpensive low-toxic starting raw materials comprising a halogenated silane compound and a cyanic acid salt. SOLUTION: The method for producing a silane compound having an isocyanate group and expressed by general formula (3) (R<SP>1</SP>is a 1-8C monovalent hydrocarbon group; R<SP>2</SP>is a hydrogen atom or a 1-8C monovalent hydrocarbon group; n is an integer of 1-10; and a is 0, 1 or 2) comprises the reaction of a halogenated silane compound expressed by general formula (1) (X is a halogen atom; and R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>, n and a are defined above) with a cyanic acid salt expressed by general formula (2): M(OCN)<SB>m</SB>(M is an alkali metal or an alkaline earth metal; and m is 1 or 2).
