PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a reactive azo compound having an isocyanate group which is a functional group having high reactivity, the new reactive azo compound obtained by the production method, and a reaction product thereof. SOLUTION: The compound represented by formula (4) is produced by subjecting a tetrafluoroborate of various kinds of aromatic diazonium salts, and phenylisocyanates to a diazo-coupling reaction in a nonaqueous solvent.
