An electronic watermark embedding apparatus and detecting apparatus are provided to make it hard to decipher embedded information by embedding a plurality of types of figure patterns in image data. A detecting unit(101) detects embedded information or a figure pattern region in which a figure pattern indicating a position of a region where embedded information exists can be embedded, from a region other than a background of image data. An embedding unit(102) embeds the figure pattern in the detected figure pattern region to generate watermarked image data. |
