SURFACE ILLUMINATING DEVICE AND DISPLAY DEVICE EMPLOYING THE SAME

A surface illuminating device and a display apparatus by adapting the same are provided to have the uniform brightness distribution and to remove the hot spot, thereby maintaining angle distribution of light at around zero degree. An LGP(Light Guide Panel)(120) guides the light beam so that the light beam emitted from a light source member(110) is transmitted through a light emission surface(123). A hologram pattern is formed on the LGP. At the array direction of the hologram pattern, the hologram pattern has the azimuth angle of above 45 degrees without passing through the side of the LGP. The hologram patterns are also formed at the lower surfaces of the light emission surfaces and/or the LGP. The light beam is reflected at the side of the LGP and thereafter, the azimuth angle of the light beam emitted to the hologram pattern is above 0 degree and smaller than 45 degrees.
