An information processing apparatus, an apparatus and a method for controlling the information processing apparatus, and a computer readable recording medium storing a control program are provided to prevent the operation of the information processing apparatus from being stopped even though a hardware component of the apparatus has a trouble. System initialization for diagnosing the operation of hardware is performed when an information processing apparatus is power-off to detect hardware failure in an early stage(21,22). After the hardware diagnosis process, power cutting timing of the information processing apparatus is controlled in order to cut the power of the information processing apparatus(26). Accordingly, hardware trouble of the information processing apparatus is detected when an idle period of the information processing apparatus is started.
