A system and a method for managing product history with a serial number are provided to enable a secondhand article shopping mall to check a state of products when a product is registered and enable an owner to find the product by enabling the secondhand article shopping mall to inform the owner of a sale request of a stolen product, thereby preventing transaction of stolen products in the secondhand article shopping mall. A product register(210) receives a serial number of a product from a user and stores the serial number to a product history database(240). A product state updater(220) updates a product state, which includes missing or theft of the product, stored in the product history database by receiving product state change information from the user. A product state checker(230) receives a product state checkup request from the secondhand article shopping mall, and provides the product state of the product in response to the product state checkup request by referring to the product history database. The product state checker checks the product state when a product sale notification of the product is received from the secondhand article shopping mall, and transmits a sale stop request of the product to the secondhand article shopping mall when the product is missed or stolen. |
