Quinoline derivatives and their use as 5-HT6 ligands

Quinoline compounds of formula (I) having affinity for the 5-HT6 receptor and pharmacological activity thereof, processes for their preparation, compositions containing them and their use in the treatment of CNS and other disorders are disclosed, wherein the variables shown in formula (I) are as defined in the specification. These compounds are particularly suitable for the treatment or prophylaxis of depression, anxiety, Alzheimer disease, age related cognitive decline, ADHD, obesity, mild cognitive impairment, schizophrenia, cognitive deficits in schizophrenia and stroke. These compounds are also suitable for use in promoting neuronal growth within the central nervous system of a mammal.
