The guard has a guard part comprising a transparent monitoring visual indicator (1) for receiving an indicator substance (2). A collector pipe (3) is arranged at a lower side of the transparent indicator, where the collector pipe is filled with a gas permeable and liquid absorbing material (4). A probe part has a tubular concealed pin (5) with a disk-like support (6), where a wall of the pin has longitudinal slots (7). The guard is adjusted and operated by the collector pipe inserted in the pin to monitor freshness degree of meat.
