PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized value medium processing device which authenticates coins, and reads or writes an electric information recording medium. SOLUTION: The value medium processing device allows a coin deposited into a slot to roll along a coin path for authenticating the coin, wherein the coin in the coin path can be canceled by a canceling device 108. A coin slot 138 and a slot 140 for an electric value recording medium are at least partially shared. A device for detecting the electric value recording medium is provided in the electric value medium slot.
