PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite material by which the tensile strength, impact resistance, modulus and the like of the resin are improved, and the reduction or the like of the processability of the resin is prevented. SOLUTION: The composite material 1 is obtained by heating and kneading the resin 3 with a porous structure 2 containing a catalyst for promoting the scission of a bond forming the main chain of the resin, and allowing the resin 3 converted to the low-molecular weight one by the scission of the bond forming the main chain as a resin 4 to penetrate into the interiors of the pores of the porous structure 2. As a result, the impact resistance, modulus, heat resistance, gas-barrier properties, flame retardancy and the like are improved by the strong anchor effects because the resin 3 being the mother phase penetrates the interiors of the pores of the porous structure 2, and the reduction of the processability of the resin, the reduction of the surface appearance, the increase of the specific gravity and the like can be prevented because a fibrous filler is not used.
