<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent information output from an information output device to an external device from being used for purposes other than the original object thereof and from giving disadvantages to the producer and the copyright owner of the information. <P>SOLUTION: The digital information is output in the same quality as it is, when it is recognized that the external apparatus operates according to copy control information, while no information limited on copying thereof is output, when it is not recognized that the external apparatus operates according to copy control information.
