PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which stably shortens a dark start time of a cold cathode fluorescent lamp mounted on a backlight, and provides a high-quality display image over a long period of time with saved energy. SOLUTION: The cold cathode fluorescent lamp CCFL is provided with a translucent glass tube VLA with rear gas and mercury sealed inside, a pair of cold cathodes ELE sealed and arranged by facing to both end parts of the glass tube VAL, inner leads ILE and outer leads OLE of which one ends are connected to the cold cathode ELE and other ends are air-tightly sealed and led out to an outside of the glass tube. Conductors SSM, which are extended to opposite cold cathode ELE directions from inner bottom surfaces of the cold cathodes ELE, and function as sputtering sources, are arranged.
