PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an observation elevator providing positive avoidance of strong sunlight shining in from an observation window, and providing maximum enjoyment of the view from the observation window. SOLUTION: An illuminance detector 5 is provided for detecting a light amount in a car 1, a temperature detector 6 is provided for detecting a temperature in the car 1, and a day/night switching timer 9 is provided for switching between a day mode and a night mode. In a control means 7, when the day/night switching timer 9 is in the night mode, a blind opening command is output, and when the day/night switching timer 9 is in the day mode, a blind closing command is output in response to that the detected light amount has reached a predetermined value or more, the blind opening command is output in response to that the detected light amount has reached the predetermined value or less, the blind closing command is output in response to that the detected temperature has reached a predetermined value or more, and the blind opening command is output in response to that the detected temperature has reached the predetermined value or less.
