<p>A method of allocating a Session Initiation Protocol Application Server to a subscriber within an IP Multimedia Subsystem. The method comprises identifying at a Home Subscriber Server a set of provisioned initial filter criteria for said subscriber, said set of initial filter criteria containing at least one generic Session Initiation Protocol Application Server identity. Said set of initial filter criteria are sent from the Home Subscriber Server to a Serving Call/Session Control Function allocated to said subscriber, and are received at said Serving Call/Session Control Function. The generic Session Initiation Protocol Application Server identity is resolved into a plurality of Application Server addresses, with one of said addresses being allocated to said subscriber for use in provisioning a service to said subscriber. The allocated address is cached at the Serving Call/Session Control Function for said subscriber for subsequent use.</p> |
