Apparatus and an associated method for facilitating paging of an access t erminal by an access network of a radio communication system. A quick paging message is first generated and sent to the access terminal. The quick pagin g message is formed of partial comparators, comprised of a first group of id entity bits. A regular paging message is also generated and sent to the acce ss terminal. The regular paging message is formed of partial comparators, co mprised of a second group of identity bits. If, upon detection of the quick paging message, the access terminal determines that it is paged, the access terminal sends a response. The first and second groups of identity bits are, for example, different parts of the same number.
