摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface light-emitting laser element that is excellent in heat dissipation properties compared with a conventional one, a surface light-emitting laser array in which high-output surface light-emitting laser elements are arranged in high density, an optical scanning device that scans on the surface to be scanned at high speed, an image forming device that forms a high-definition image at high speed, and an optical communication system that allows high-speed optical communication. SOLUTION: In three sets (103a-103c) respectively composed of two layers mutually having different thermal resistivities and refractive indexes as a set and adjacent to a resonator region in a lower DBR, an optical thickness of a high-refractive-index layer (n-Al<SB>0.3</SB>Ga<SB>0.7</SB>As) having a larger heat resistivity is set to a thickness smaller than 1/4 times an oscillation wavelength, and also, an optical thickness of a low-refractive-index layer (n-AlAs) having a smaller heat resistivity is set to a thickness larger than 1/4 times the oscillation wavelength. A sum of an optical thickness of the high-refractive-index layer having the larger heat resistivity and an optical thickness of the low-refractive-index layer having the smaller heat resistivity is set to m/4 (m is an even number larger than 2) times the oscillation wavelength, while both the high-refractive-index layer and the low-refractive-index layer are adjacent to each other.
