PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the shape of the inside of a gas-liquid separating passage and easily form a damping means by adopting a novel simple damping means in a self-priming pump. SOLUTION: This self-priming pump can perform a liquid pumping operation for discharging a conveying liquid sucked from a suction passage into a blade chamber 2 by an impeller 3 in the blade chamber 2 to a discharge passage 7 through a gas-liquid separating passage 6 and a self-priming operation for performing gas-liquid separation while circulatingly returning a self-priming liquid in the blade chamber 2 into the blade chamber 2 through the gas-liquid separating passage 6 by the impeller 3. A main hole 11 allowing the self-priming liquid in the blade chamber 2 to jet, as a main swirl flow, into the gas-liquid separating chamber 6 is formed in the gas-liquid separating passage 6. An auxiliary hole 12 allowing the self-priming liquid in the blade chamber 2 to jet, as an auxiliary swirl flow, into the gas-liquid separating passage 6 is formed therein on the upstream side of the main hole 11. The rotating direction of the auxiliary swirl flow is reverse to the rotating direction of the main swirl flow. As a result, a damping means for damping the main swirl flow by the auxiliary swirl flow from the auxiliary hole 12 is simplified, the shape of the inside of the gas-liquid separating passage 6 is simplified, and the operation for forming the damping means is simplified.
