PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat assisted magnetic head which can be manufactured by a conventional magnetic recording element manufacturing method and improve its production yield in a simple configuration with its light source position precisely adjusted. SOLUTION: This head has a first surface 2201 positioned opposite to the medium facing surface S, a slider substrate 220 having a side between the medium facing surface S and the first surface 2201, a waveguide 35 having a light exit surface 353 at the medium facing surface S side, and a magnetic recording element 34 close to this light exit surface 353. Further, it has a magnetic head section 32 fixed to one side of the slider panel 220, a light source support panel 230 having a second surface 2300 facing the first surface 2201, a light emitting element 40 facing the light input surface 354 of the waveguide 35 and fixed to the light source support panel 230, and an adhesive 40 between the first surface 2201 and the second surface 2300.
