PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance coating efficiency by providing a handholding type spray gun capable of spraying coating according to a spray pattern in a jet amount fitted to the spray pattern corresponding to the width of the coating surface of a coating target to instantaneously change over the spray pattern and the jet amount. SOLUTION: A detection sensor for controlling operation by the hand which holds the spray gun is provided, and coating and blow air are supplied to the spray gun by a control unit for supplying the coating and blow air on the basis of the condition preset by the detection signal of the sensor to be sprayed from the spray gun. A plurality of the detection sensors are provided on the spray gun and a spray model is preset so as to supply spray air and/or the coating under respective different spray conditions to change over the spray condition by the changeover operation of the sensor. The spray model is constituted so as to individually control the spray air and pattern adjusting air to store the signal, which supplies the coating in the jet amount corresponding to the reduction of pattern adjusting air, and to output it.
