DRIVING DEVICE FOR BACKLIGHT AND DISPLAY APPARATUS HAVING THE SAME

A backlight driving device and a display device having the same are provided to enable an inverter controller to output a dimming signal swung at one period in a preset section, and enable an inverter to output driving voltage corresponding to the dimming signal, thereby reducing time that light generated from a backlight arrives at target luminance, and accordingly preventing non-uniform luminance characteristics shown on a display screen during initial driving. An inverter controller(210) generates a PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) signal in response to a control signal applied from the outside, and outputs a dimming signal. The dimming signal swings at one period in a preset section corresponding to time when light generated from a backlight(250) arrives at target luminance showing a duty ratio of the PWM signal. An inverter(230) outputs driving voltage for driving the backlight, and controls the arrival time by changing a voltage level of the driving voltage in response to the dimming signal.
