A component signal control method and an image display device thereof are provided to control an offset by detecting a black level of Y, Pb and Pr signals, thereby preventing generation of color sensitivity difference of lower gradation even when Y, Pb and Pr signal generators of a signal generator are connected, and accordingly maintaining an optimum state without difference of the color sensitivity. A component signal control method comprises the following steps of: receiving component(Y,Pb,Pr) signals; detecting a black level of the received component signals; controlling an offset of the black level(S205); and storing the controlled offset of the black level(S206). The above second step is performed when the Y signal is an initial signal section. In the above third step, values of the Pb and Pr signals of the initial signal section are read and then the offset is controlled so that the values become 0(S203,S204).
