A method for downloading software by wireless in a multi-mode network and a mobile terminal for executing the same are provided to improve the transmission efficiency of software download by downloading software through the optimum channel among the radio channels of a 3G network, an HSDPA(High Speed Downlink Packet Access) network, and a WLAN hotspot in a multi-mode network where a 2G network, the 3G network, the HSDPA network, and the WLAN hotspot exist together. A mobile terminal(100), which executes communication in a multi-mode network which supports a 2G network, a 3G network, an HSDPA network, and a WLAN hotspot, comprises a memory(110) and a control part(120). The memory(110) stores download procedures to execute software download through a radio channel. In case that a software download request is generated, the control part(120) rejects the proceeding of software download when a currently connected radio channel is a radio channel of the 2G network. If the connected radio channel is a radio channel of the 3G network, the HSDPA network or the WLAN hotspot, the control part(120) executes software download according to the download procedures.
