A method and a device for controlling message transmission in online games are provided to minimize the number of messages transmitted from a game server by combining the messages, and to minimize a load of a game server by flexibly regulating the size of the message. A timeliness decision unit(502) decides whether a message is timely transmitted to a plurality of users. A message buffer(504) stores the message if the timeless of message is low. A message transmission unit(506) combines and transmits the message stored in the buffer. If the timeliness decision unit decides that the timeliness of the message is high, the message transmission unit combines and transmits the message instantly. If the message having the low timeliness is stored in the buffer with a size greater than the predetermined size thereof, the message transmission unit combines and transmits the stored messages.
