DISPLAY DEVICE AND DRIVING METHOD OF THE SAME

A display apparatus and a method for driving the same are provided to generate a negative voltage from a data driver by applying a negative voltage to a ground stage of a control board. A display apparatus includes an insulating substrate(110), switching and driving transistors, first and second electrodes(171,190), an illumination layer(182), and a data driver. The switching and driving transistors formed on the insulating substrate include a semiconductor layer. The first electrode is connected to the driving transistor. The illumination layer is formed on the first electrode. The second electrode supplies a common voltage to the illumination layer. The data driver applies a data voltage having a range between first and second voltages to the switching transistor. The first and second voltages and the common voltage are satisfied with equations, the first voltage - the common voltage - the voltage drop due to the illumination layer = a black voltage and the second voltage - the common voltage - the voltage drop due to the illumination layer = a white voltage.
