PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an air supply quantity from deviating from an optimum value due to shifting of a damper opening from a preset position in a combustion apparatus in which the air supply quantity is controlled by a damper device. SOLUTION: In this combustion apparatus, the air supply to a burner part 1 is performed by a blower 3, and the air supply quantity is controlled by changing an opening of the damper device 4 provided in the midway of an air blowing passage 6 connecting the blower 3 and the burner part 1 to each other. In the case of decreasing the air supply quantity, in moving in the direction of closing the opening of the damper 4, the damper is stopped based on limit signal detection of a limit switch situated in the changed air supply quantity position. In the case of increasing the air supply quantity, the damper opening is moved in the opening direction, once passes the changed air supply quantity position, and subsequently the moving direction of the damper is reversed to the closing direction. After that, in moving in the direction of closing the damper, the damper is controlled to stop based on limit signal detection of the limit switch situated in the changed air supply quantity position.
