摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical film manufacturing method which includes a polarized UV ray irradiation step and with which the optical film showing good optical characteristics and good film strength can be manufactured with high productivity. SOLUTION: The optical film manufacturing method comprises following steps (1) to (3) in this order: (1) a layer consisting of a polymerizable composition containing a polymerizable liquid crystal compound and a dichroic polymerization initiator is formed on a surface of an aligned film, (2) molecules of the polymerizable liquid crystal compound in the layer are made a first aligned state, (3) the layer is irradiated with polarized UV ray to advance polymerization of the polymerizable liquid crystal compound and to fix the molecules of the polymerizable liquid crystal compound in a second aligned state to form an optically anisotropic layer. A ratio of the polarized UV ray having extinction ratio between 1 and 8 among irradiation amount of the polarized UV ray per unit area (J/cm<SP>2</SP>) is 15% or less. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
