PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a sulfonic ester derivative which is an objective substance to be produced in high yield. SOLUTION: The method for producing the sulfonic ester derivative includes homogeneously dispersing a specific diol derivative in a specified organic solvent (A) in a reaction vessel under stirring by charging the diol derivative, adding a specific sulfonic chloride to the resultant dispersion, regulating the temperature of the reaction liquid to≤10°C by utilizing the latent heat of vaporization of the organic solvent (A) at the evaporation of the organic solvent (A) under a reduced pressure, and reacting the resultant product by adding an aqueous solution of an alkali metal hydroxide to afford the specified sulfonic ester derivative.
