A metal powder for use in metal photofabrication in which a three-dimensional configuration shaped item is obtained by irradiating powder layers consisting of metal powder with optical beams to thereby form sintered layers and laminating of the sintered layers. The metal powder for metal photofabrication is a metal powder characterized by containing an iron powder and at least one powder selected from the group consisting of nickel, a nickel alloy, copper, a copper alloy and graphite, wherein the iron powder is one having been tempered. This metal powder is soft due to the tempering of the iron powder. Accordingly, when this metal powder is used in metal photofabrication, cutting resistance attributed to metal powder adhering to the surface of obtained fabrication product would be reduced to thereby realize prolongation of the life duration of cutting tool. |
