PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite optical element suitably focusing laser light respectively on a plurality of information recording surfaces provided on an information recording medium and to provide an optical pickup device.

SOLUTION: In the composite optical element 15 formed by joining first and second optical parts 25 and 35 composed of materials different from each other, the second optical part 35 is joined to an optical function surface 26 of the first optical part 25 and an irregular surface part 26a is formed in a center region of a joined surface of the first and the second optical parts 25 and 35.
