CONTROL OF INFORMATION UNITS IN FIBRE CHANNEL COMMUNICATIONS

A control of an information unit in fibre channel communications is provided to avoid a data rate drop caused by an excessive reciprocal operation required for long-distance communication, thus it is no need to remove a data rate drop by using a channel extender having emulation capacities. The first storage device control unit(104) receives an information unit through a fibre channel connector from a remote host(102), and an information unit pacing parameter included in a response transmitted to the remote host(102) from the first storage device control unit(104) is controlled by the first storage device control unit(104). The information unit pacing parameter shows the number of information units whose transmission is allowed by the first storage device control unit(104) without the remote host(102) waiting for any additional response from the first storage device control unit(104).
