Disclosed is a subtilase variant comprising at least one of the following alterations: X199 {R, L, K, F,W,Y,V) wherein (a) the alteration is a substitution of the amino acid that occupies the position with a different amino acid, (b) the variant has protease activity, and (c) each position corresponds to a position at the amino acid sequence of the subtilisin BPN', shown in Figure 1. Also disclosed are isolated DNA sequences encoding the above variant, expression vectors comprising the sequence and host cells transformed by the vector. The subtilase variant disclosed is useful in laundry or dish washing compositions. |
